How to apply
Becoming a member of the International Association of Psychosexual Therapists (IAPST) allows you to join a global network of professionals committed to advancing psychosexual therapy. The application process varies based on your desired membership tier:
Certified Members
To apply, you must:
- Complete the membership application form.
- Submit a copy of your CV.
- Provide proof of completing an IAPST-accredited program or a Letter of Self-Study from the Membership Committee.
- Provide proof that they hold at least a bachelor’s degree and have completed advanced, accredited clinical training in psychotherapy, counseling, psychology, or a closely related mental health discipline. This training must meet the recognized standard in the applicant’s jurisdiction for independent practice as a psychotherapist, which may take the form of a postgraduate diploma, certificate, master’s degree, or higher.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from an IAPST Certified Member or two (2) letters of recommendation from non-IAPST Certified Members.
- Affirm that you have the legal capacity to engage in clinical practice within your jurisdiction, in accordance with the laws and guidelines governing psychosexual therapy in your region.
Associate Members
To apply, you must:
- Complete the membership application form.
- Submit a copy of your CV.
- Provide two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a current IAPST member.
- Affirm that you have the legal capacity to engage in clinical practice within your jurisdiction, in accordance with the laws and guidelines governing psychosexual therapy in your region.
Student Members
To apply, you must:
- Complete the membership application form.
- Submit a copy of your CV.
- Provide proof of current enrollment at an accredited university.
- Submit two letters of recommendation, with at least one from a current IAPST member.
